Sexual Self-Improvement For Men

The Penis

The human penis is a sexual organ that is a part of the male reproductive system and is an essential instrument in human procreation. Aside from being a tool from which to create new life, the male organ is also an erogenous zone that can be stimulated via auto erotic play or during sexual intercourse.

the penis

Most of the sensations a man experiences during sensual stimuli occurs in the foreskin, frenulum/frenar band area, and glans. Interestingly enough, each of these parts, by nature of where they are situated and how the nerves are arranged, tend to contribute it's own primary sensations, culminating in the overall sexual experience. In this way, the penis make up is very similar to the female genitalia, as the clitoral hood, vagina and inner labia, when simultaneously stimulated, can combine to create an intense feeling of arousal that can lead to feminine orgasm.

As with women, excitement can increase if there is an emotional attachment to the partner. This fact appears to indicate that there is a correlation between great sex and significant emotional connection. While individuals can engage in sex acts and enjoy it without a true tie to the person they copulate with, people who profess feelings for one another can, and often times do, have better sex lives.

penile health

This may also indicate that the penile sensation is not only tactile but psychological in nature.

But since this topic is more an exploration of the physical attributes of this remarkable member, we will now stick with the basic make up of genital organ.

FORESKIN
The foreskin is one part of the penis that has been the subject of much debate and scrutiny for centuries. Once removed primarily for religious reasons, this particular skin is often cut off in a ceremony known as circumcision. This was largely done because it was perceived that keeping the foreskin made it impossible to maintain penile health.

One can see why someone may have thought this, especially since this fold of skin covers the head of the penis. In time however, medical science has been able to prove that this is not the case. There is absolutely no reason to believe that a man with an intact penile hood will be more prone to disease than a circumsized male.

Now, when taking a closer look at the amazing foreskin, we see that it has an inner and outer layer.

The outer layer contains nerve endings and sensory receptors called Meissner corpuscles that can increase pleasure during sexual intercourse. Touching and stroking this area, or gliding it over the hardened glans or head of the shaft, can create sensations that cause an erection to occur. With continued caressing, a man may even climax, creating an ejaculatory projection. This "gliding mechanism" can occur with intercourse or masturbation and is one of the main sources of pleasure for a male. When a man manipulates his foreskin in this manner, he can begin to train himself on how to prolong the sensations, which aids him in controlling premature ejaculation. It is also thought that this gliding mechanism is nature's intended mechanism for sex and can aid a woman in the process of lubrication during the act.

SEXUAL STIMULATION AND AROUSAL
The ridged bands of the penis, which looks like horseshoes that curve towards the base of the penile shaft alongside the frenulum ( the fleshy ligament that attaches the foreskin to the shaft), are another part of the male genital organ that can create intense sensations and arousal. This is primarily due to the fact that these ridges have what is known as Meissner's corpuscles. Because these corpuscles respond to pressure, the more a man strokes it, or the tighter the grip on it, the more intense the feelings. This is why a woman who has strong vaginal muscles can excite a male more than one with lax muscles. Oral sex can also evoke strong responses due to this same pressure.

The glans or penile head is located at the end of the organs shaft. This is the part where a greater concentration of nerve endings exist--even so, a careful manipulation of all the components of the sexual organ is what gives a man the most pleasure and excitement. Indeed, it is during the latter stages of coitus that a man may experience intense sexual plateaus, and this is due to the glans. These sensations are far more prominent in men who have been circumcised, as the head of the penis is more engaged at this phase.

MALE PENILE HEALTH
One of the considerations that comes with sexual activity is potential health risks. Although it is easier for a man to pass on a STD to a woman than it is for a woman to pass one on to a man, it can and does happen. Aside from condoms, there are other ways in which a male can protect his reproductive health.

Now, when it comes to oral sex, you can use dental dams. This product, which can come in a variety of flavors, is placed over the vagina during cunnilingus or fellatio. Manipulation of the outer labia, clit or glans can be achieved through the dental dam and is considered to be essential in situations where you are having sex with someone you don't know.

While some have wondered if dental dams make arousal, clitoral stimulation and climax difficult for a woman, many have found that oral stimulation accompanied with the technique of fingering the inner lips of the vulva can make oral sex possible with these dams.

Another way to ensure penile health, believe it or not, is through masturbation and frequent sex. Although it sounds too good to be true, studies indicate that men who ejaculate frequently have a lowered risk of prostate cancer.

What does this mean?

It means that combining sexuality with a healthy does of protection can actually decrease reproductive related cancers -- good news for all.

CIRCUMCISED PENISES
As we stated prior, circumcision, which is the removal of the foreskin, was widely accepted as a medical practice that was long held to have religious significance. In recent years, it is done primarily for aesthetic reasons, as most men are circumcised today without the traditional spiritual connotations attached. Many parents who decide to have their sons foreskin removed do so because they want their child to fit in, especially in America where the practice is prevalent.

Once the foreskin of the penis has been cut away, the surface of the glans inevitably develops a thick, dry layer of keratin (toughened skin). The benefit is that the head is less sensitive to outward stimuli, but some physicians believe that men are losing out on the full sensations that can be had during lovemaking without it. Indeed, one of the more common complaints reported by circumcised men is that so much skin was removed during the procedure that an erection is sometime painful.

Some of these men can and have been helped by a method called foreskin restoration, where the foreskin is reattached via a complex operation where skin grafts are used.

SIZES
The debate over whether size truly matters may be as old as time, but there may be scientific data that indicates that a male's size can affect his reproductive capability.

For instance, men with very small penises have a harder time facilitating female orgasm. Strong contractions of the vagina aid spermatozoa in traveling up the birth canal to fertilize the egg. This means that it may be harder for a man with a very small penis to impregnate his partner, especially if the woman's internal depth is longer than average.

This may be why men who have a micropenis may have harder time naturally reproducing.

THE JOYS OF SEX
That is not to say that sexual intercourse cannot be enjoyed for pure pleasures sake. There is a reason why the innervated and vascularized genital structure is so inundated with sensations. Sex serves several functions for the human animal and for the penis this function is to both cleanse it and keep it in good health. In this way, a man may replicate himself and also enjoy one of the best gifts known to man -- the gift of sexual intimacy. - Alicia
